Ella, Sri Lanka – Hello Ella & Ella’s Rock.

Day 5 *Continued: Flo and I were determined to soldier our way onto the train to Ella especially seeing that the station was packed with tourists and backpackers heading the same way. When the train slid into Nanuoya Station, we tried to find the second class cabins, only to wind up in third class in…

When @mama.chong drops off a load of Mandarin Oranges, it’s time to bake Mandarin Orange Almond Loaf 🤤
French Apple Tart upon the hub’s request. His love for Apple-anything blows my mind but since he wanted a birthday tart last week to celebrate with in the office, I simply couldn’t say no. It’s been years since I made Apple tart from scratch but anything for Mein Schatz ❤️
Lychee and Rose. Fruity and Floral. Like Love and Marriage.
Mandarin Orange & Hazelnut Frangipane Tart... for days like these when there are oranges aplenty and extra pâté sucrée to use up!
Happy Birthday (last Friday) to my ex-Boyfriend and now-Husband! Sorry this month didn’t work out but thank God for (wannabe) German cheesecake and the love of family and friends. Thank you for being beside me through everything and especially this weekend. Makes it easier knowing that I have the rest of my life with you as my rock. Ich Liebe Dich! ❤️
It’s always a joy to be able to bake for my regulars and feel like a part of their celebrations through my cakes. Just as no two cakes are quite the same, every customer friend is special to me! 🥰
Not one to do much Asian pastry but when I do, egg tarts are my weakness! The crumbly tart shell and smooth, light, wobbly, creamy, eggy filling was a delight on the palate. Perfect for the jump into the 🐷 New Year! Hope you all had a good two days of visiting friends and family. It’s back to work although there’s still another 13 days of CNY for celebrating 😆. Wishing all of you the best of health, wealth and good fortune in the year ahead. And remember: You don’t have to ‘compensate’ for all the good eating over this festive period. Enjoy yourselves and remember that our bodies are smart enough to tell us when it’s had enough and just wants a light salad or soup for dinner; or that it wants to enjoy some movement. Food isn’t a reward or a punishment - it is life.
Gluten-free not-golden golden milk brownies, made using hazelnut flour. Initially I was just going to go with ginger to spice things up, but then I decided to make a party of it and add cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, and turmeric to the mix. It was without a doubt, the right thing to do! The awesome mix of spices wakes up the senses while cutting the richness of the chocolatey brownie, which came complete with a cracked top. Added some cashews for crunch just because. These make the perfect break from all the CNY goodies! 🤤
Mondays taste better when it starts with Lemon Chocolate Cake with a Fresh Grated Ginger and Lemon Ganache
